The Pussycat Dolls are a Los Angeles-based group active from 2003, working in contemporary R&B, dance-pop, electropop, neo soul, pop and pop soul. The project begins as a burlesque troupe in Los Angeles, California, and later expands to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas before becoming a music group.

Formation and early years

The group is founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995. It later secures a record deal in 2003 with A&M Records and Interscope Records, and is then developed into a recording act. The group’s line-up includes Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, Kaya Jones, Melody Thornton and Nicole Scherzinger.

Albums and commercial success

By 2005, the group records its first album, PCD. The album is released in 2005 and reaches number one in five countries, including New Zealand. It peaks at number five on the US Billboard 200, number seven on the UK album chart and number eight in Australia. It is certified multi-platinum in seven countries, including the UK and the US, and sells more than five million copies worldwide.

The second studio album, Doll Domination, is released in 2008. It also reaches number one in five countries and peaks at number four on both the UK album chart and the US Billboard 200. It sells 79,000 copies in its first week.

Line-up changes and reunion activity

The group officially splits in 2010, as Kimberly Wyatt, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts and Nicole Scherzinger leave one by one. Plans for a reformed version with six new members, including Vanessa Curry, Lauren Bennett, Tiffany “Taz” Zavala, Crystal “Lyndriette” Smith, Paula van Oppen and Kia Hampton, do not continue under the same name; that line-up becomes G.R.L. instead.

In late 2019, the group announces a comeback and performs on The X-Factor: Celebrity with a selection of its hits and a new song, “React”. A reunion tour is announced for 2020 but is repeatedly postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic and later cancelled amid contractual disputes between Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Antin. In March 2026, the group returns as a trio consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt, and releases “Club Song”, described as its first new release since “React”.

Recent activity

Alongside “Club Song”, the trio announces the PCD Forever Tour, an international arena tour marking the 20th anniversary of PCD. The tour is due to begin in California and include dates across North America and Europe, and it is presented as the group’s first major tour since its split in 2010.
