the port authority
The Port Authority are a band from Carnoustie, a small coastal town on the east coast of Scotland. The group consists of Stuart Gillies, who previously plays in Yessa De Paso, and Chris Lee-Marr, who also plays in Esperi and the a forest.
Their recordings appear as demo tracks, originally made as Yessa De Paso demos and not released in that form. The material functions as a temporary stopgap while later songs are prepared for release.
The band’s sound is associated with quiet, alt-country, folk, acoustic and post-rock influences. Their stated inspirations include harsh coastal waters, countryside walks with dogs, snow, darkness, HBO comedies and television shows, and slow plot-driven films.
