The Poet Junkies

The Poet Junkies are a four-piece rock band based in Plymouth, England. The group forms in 2013 and plays hard-edged indie rock with heavy, infectious grooves. The line-up consists of Brendan O’Neill on vocals and guitar, Thomas Archer on guitar, Matt Xhapman on bass, and Jon Blanchard on drums.

Releases and early recognition

The band’s debut EP is Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained, released in 2013. It is followed by the EP One Of Those Days, and then the single E.Q.uilibrium, which is issued with a studio video. Another single, sex and the crazy parade, is also released with an official video.

Live work and media exposure

The Poet Junkies play the main stage at Volksfest and perform at a Vaccines after-party. They also appear on the main stage at Plymouth Pavilions in a headline show. Their music features on BBC Introducing, including an Upload of the Week placement and another BBC Introducing Track of the Week mention. The video for E.Q.uilibrium gains more than 6,000 views and 150 likes in its first month online.

Audience and online presence

The band builds a sizeable online following, with nearly 5,000 fans on Facebook. They also release music through major online stores, including iTunes, and maintain an active presence across streaming and social platforms.
