The Plastics
The Plastics are a South African indie rock band from Cape Town, active from 2008 onwards. The group forms around the Righini brothers, who start the project in late 2007 after expanding their earlier punk band HOAX into a new direction. They build the band around a live-performance approach and develop a sound described as a blend of indie rock with bluesy and disco-punk elements.
Line-up
After the project begins, classically trained guitarist Karl Rohloff joins on bass, and Arjuna Kohlstock joins on lead guitar. This line-up shapes the band’s recognised sound.
Releases
The Plastics release a self-titled EP, The Plastics, followed by Kiss The Plastics. Both are distributed in runs of 1,000 copies and given away free.
