The Perch Creek Family Jugband is an Australian group active since 2006, previously known simply as The Perch Creek Family Jugband. The band begins when Bob Hodgkins gets instruments for his children and starts learning the catalogue of The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band, an influence on the group’s sound.

Style and instrumentation

The group plays jug band music with a strong connection to bluegrass and old-time hillbilly material. Their performances use kazoo, washboard, mandolin and fiddle, and also include tap dancing. The band also plays Tin Pan Alley favourites and songs built around homemade instruments and close vocal harmonies.
