The Paul McKenna Band is a Scottish folk group led by Paul McKenna. Active since 2006, it performs across the UK and combines traditional material with original songs and tunes. The group takes a contemporary approach to folk music while keeping close to its roots.

Sound and instrumentation

The band’s arrangements feature vocals, guitar, bouzouki, fiddle, flute, whistles, bodhrán and percussion. Its music is described through the contrast of driving strings, a warm wind section and rhythm-led percussion, giving the group a distinctive folk and Celtic sound.
