The Overtones

The Overtones are a British-Irish doo-wop and pop vocal harmony group from London, formed in 2010. They are a UK-founded act that first comes together after being noticed by a Warner Brothers talent scout while working as decorators in a shop near Oxford Street, where they sing during a tea break. The group begins as a five-piece and is active from 2010 to the present.

Albums and chart success

Their debut album, Good Ol' Fashioned Love, enters the UK album chart at number 40 on its first release in 2010, with first-week sales of 5,371. After a reissue in 2011, it reaches number 4 and goes on to sell nearly half a million copies by 2018. The group releases six further albums, and five of their seven albums peak in the UK Top 10.

Line-up changes

In 2016, lead singer Timmy Matley is diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma and dies two years later in a drug-related accident. In April 2019, bass singer Lachie Chapman announces that he intends to leave the group to pursue other commitments, and his final performance with the band takes place in May 2019. The following month, Welsh singer Jay James Picton joins The Overtones as a new member. Other members named as part of the group are Mike Crawshaw, Darren Everest and Mark Franks.
