The Osmonds

The Osmonds are an American family pop group from Ogden, United States, active from 1959 to 1980. The group becomes widely known as a teenage music act in the 1970s and achieves major international success. Its core line-up includes brothers Alan Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Merrill Osmond, Jay Osmond and Donny Osmond, with younger siblings Marie Osmond and Jimmy Osmond joining later. Other members listed include Virl Osmond.

Career

The group makes its performing debut with their siblings on the Andy Williams Show in 1966. They later appear with The Donny and Marie Show and The Osmond Family Show. By 1976, they are no longer producing hit singles.

Style and legacy

The Osmonds are associated with bubblegum pop, pop, pop rock, country and hard rock. Although they are one of the best-known family acts of the 1970s, their hits do not remain in regular rotation on oldies and classic hits stations.

Awards and recognition

In 2003, the Osmond family receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
