The Oscillation

The Oscillation is a UK drone ambient rock group from Walthamstow, active since 2006. It is led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Demian Castellanos and also includes Valentina Magaletti, Chris Wackrow, Julian Hand, Jon Abbey and Tom Relleen.

Origins and membership

The group emerges after Castellanos’s earlier project, Orichalc Phase, which issues two 12-inch releases on DC Recordings in 2006. The Oscillation grows from that earlier work and becomes Castellanos’s main outlet. Tom Relleen is a former member of the group.

Style and associated work

The Oscillation is associated with psychedelic rock, krautrock, ambient, drone, electronic, jam band and space rock, and is described as part of the UK’s drone ambient rock scene. Castellanos has also worked with producer Tim Holmes of Death In Vegas, and he has a separate forthcoming project with a member of Chrome Hoof.
