The Orbitsuns

The Orbitsuns are a Detroit country and alt. country group formed in 2000 around songwriter and vocalist Vinnie Dombrowski. The line-up includes Tim Duvalier on guitar, lap steel and vocals, Jimmy Paluzzi on drums, and Bob Hecker on bass. The group develops a following playing across the United States, with a sound described as high-energy and rockabilly-influenced.

Career

The band begins after Dombrowski puts together a set of country songs. Alongside Dombrowski’s writing and vocals, Duvalier contributes guitar, lap steel and vocals, while Paluzzi and Hecker provide the rhythm section. The Orbitsuns build an audience through live work and self-produced recordings.

Recordings

The Orbitsuns release Red Neck Disco as a self-produced record. It includes the songs “Haul Ass” and “Girls That Swear,” both noted as audience favourites.

Live activity

The Orbitsuns open for a range of national acts including David Allan Coe, Blake Shelton, Sawyer Brown and Cheap Trick. In 2002 they perform in Texas at the Detroit Future Platinum showcase during the South by Southwest conference in Austin.
