The Old Youth

The Old Youth

The Old Youth is a US rock band formed in New York, with an active period running from 1981 to 2011. The group is associated with alternative rock, art rock, experimental rock, grunge, indie rock and no wave, and releases music on Sonic Youth Archive and Sonic Death.

The band’s members include Anne DeMarinis, Richard Edson, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Bob Bert, Jim Sclavunos, Steve Shelley, Jim O’Rourke and Mark Ibold.

In a separate project, Dany Laj forms The Old Youth in 2006 from members of the Sudbury, Ontario music scene. That line-up includes Dany Laj on guitar and vocals, Joey Clement on drums and vocals, and Chad Newton on bass. Another listed formation includes Julie Houle on vocals and guitar, Rus Jack on bass and Luke Sellen on drums. The current line-up operates out of Toronto, Ontario and performs at venues and festivals across Ontario and Quebec.
