The OK Social Club
The OK Social Club is an Edinburgh indie and post-punk group formed in 2010. The line-up includes Raff Eragona on vocals and guitar, Chris Finn on guitar and backing vocals, Gordy Burn on bass and Jordan Harvey on drums.
Early activity and releases
The band plays its first gig together in summer 2011 at PJ Molloys in Dunfermline, then spends the rest of that year touring around the UK. In the following year it releases three singles on Platform Records: “The Shape of Things to Come”, “The Late 90’s” and “Gezellig”.
These singles receive radio and television exposure, including play on MTV Rocks, Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch playlist, Hollyoaks, an E4 trailer for New Girl and Sky Sports Soccer AM. They are also named record of the month on BBC’s The Janice Forsyth Show, and one track wins Steve Lamacq’s Rebel Playlist on BBC Radio 6.
Albums, performances and awards
In February 2013 the group releases its debut album, Nothing inCommon. The following month it wins Best Live Act at The Scottish Alternative Music Awards, where it also performs live and closes the show.
The OK Social Club continues gigging around the UK in 2013 and makes its European debut with shows in Italy. It also headlines King Tuts in Glasgow and appears at Scottish festivals including Wickerman and goNorth, where it plays new songs for the first time.
Later recordings
In late 2013 the band begins recording demos and performing songs intended for a second record. A stand-alone single, “Threads”, is released in 2014. The second album, Baby Eat Your Heart Out, follows, with “Walkie Talkie” issued as its lead single.
