The Noisettes

The Noisettes are a UK indie rock group from Croydon, active since 2003. The group consists of Shingai, Dan Smith and Jamie Morrison. They work in a pop soul and rock style and are signed to Universal Records.

Career

The group forms in 2003 when Shingai Shoniwa and Dan Smith, who has previously been in Sonarfly, begin writing and performing together more intensively. Jamie Morrison joins later that year, and the trio go into the studio to record their debut release, the four-track Three Moods of the Noisettes, issued on Side Salad Records.

Their early singles include IWE, Scratch Your Name, Don’t Give Up, Sister Rosetta (Capture the Spirit), The Count of Monte Christo, Wild Young Hearts and Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go). The last of these becomes their crossover chart hit and also appears in a Mazda 2 advert, helping to raise the group’s profile. It later appears on the second disc of Now! 72.

Albums

Their debut album, What’s The Time Mr Wolf?, is released in 2007. Their second album, Wild Young Hearts, follows in 2009.
