The Newcranes
The Newcranes are a folk punk group from Derby, active in the early 1990s and based in the Derby and Nottingham areas of the UK. They play up-tempo folk-rock with a mandolin-led sound and Ukrainian influences.
Line-up
The band consists of Wolly on mandolin and lead vocals, Mark on guitars and vocals, Micky on accordion and vocals, David on bass guitar, and Chris on drums. Wolly Dyszkant later records under the name DyMyR.
Career
The Newcranes achieve chart success and play headline tours and festivals. They also share bills with Bob Dylan, The Pogues, Skunk Anansie, and Rolf Harris.
