The Music

The Music are an alternative rock band from Kippax, United Kingdom. The group forms in 1999 and consists of Robert Harvey, Stuart Coleman, Phil Jordan and Adam Nutter. Their sound sits within alternative rock, indie rock and rock, and they are associated with the British indie and alternative scene of the early 2000s.

Early releases and debut album

The song Take the Long Road and Walk It circulates as a demo in 2001 before being released by Fierce Panda. The band then signs to Hut, the EMI/Virgin imprint, which issues their first EP, You Might as Well Try to Fuck Me. A second EP, The People, follows, and in 2002 the band releases its self-titled debut album.

Later albums and touring

In autumn 2004, The Music release their second album, Welcome to the North, together with the single Freedom Fighters. They tour with Incubus, and the song Breakin' becomes a hit on American rock radio. Their third album, Strength in Numbers, is released in 2008.

End of the group

Robert Harvey confirms the band's intention to split in 2010, and the group announces farewell shows in Japan and the UK in 2011.
