The Moths

The Moths are an English indie rock band from the United Kingdom. The group forms in west London in August 2006 as a songwriting partnership between James Fox, who writes lyrics and sings lead vocals, and Dave Lightfoot, who writes the music and plays guitar. Producer and keyboardist Jon Vick also works with the band in the studio.

Their sound combines indie rock, new wave, post-punk pop and indie, with references drawn to bands such as the Human League, Wire, the Buzzcocks and early Adam and the Ants. The band’s songs place emphasis on lyrical detail and guitar riffs.

The Moths release their first single, Games, as a triple A-side with Wild Birds and Valentine on the cult indie label Fandango. A later download-only track, Tell Me, appears on an unsigned compilation. The group also records and releases only one official single/EP, Games/Wild Birds/Valentine, on Label Fandango.

The single Games receives attention from ARTROCKER and NME, and gains radio support from BBC Radio 1 and XFM. It is also named single of the week by Steve Lamacq. The band records live sessions with John Kennedy on XFM and Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music.

During 2007, the group tours the UK and supports Foals, Good Shoes and the 1990s while also recording new demos. The Moths disband at the end of 2007.
