The Marratimes

The Marratimes form as a four-piece after a chance meeting in 2005 and soon begin performing in and around Cumbria. The line-up includes Stephen Murphy on vocals and acoustic guitar, Steve English on lead guitar and backing vocals, Gerry Millar on bass, and Paul Can Can Cannel on drums.

Releases and recording

The band’s first EP, Whitehaven Blues, is recorded as a soundtrack to the Whitehaven Maritime Festival. Its first album, Timing Is Everything, combines live and studio tracks and helps steer the group towards an Americana and indie rock sound. The album also takes them out on tour across the UK.

Single and video

The three-track single Maybe is recorded at Riverside Studios in Glasgow with Duncan Caneron. The accompanying video is made by Glaswegian filmmaker Jonathan Smith.
