The Love Of Everything

The Love Of Everything is a United States-based group formed in 2000. It is centred on Bobby Burg, who also plays in Make Believe and Joan of Arc and manages his own label, Record Label. The group also includes Nate Kinsella.

Style and recordings

The Love Of Everything’s music combines acoustic folk songs with layered pop textures, using looping and simple instruments to build dense arrangements. Its songs often bring together raw, adult-oriented lyrics with toy-keyboard sounds and nursery-rhyme-like rhythms. The group’s releases include Superior Mold and Die, described as either the third or fourth album depending on whether the many splits and EPs issued over the previous five years are counted.

Live work and collaborations

The Love Of Everything is also associated with Burg’s solo performances, in which he builds a full, wall-of-sound effect live with a looping pedal before singing. Over its five years and a 16-country tour, the project goes through numerous line-ups and includes musicians from the avant-garde scene, with people connected to Storm & Stress, Pinebender, Mirah, Rainer Maria, Euphone, Joan of Arc, Make Believe, Cex, Owen and Shellac appearing both live and on record.

Development

The group develops from Burg’s longest-running band and is described as an expression of his emotional life, with music that is experimental, haunting and straightforward in its construction.
