The Lost Fingers
The Lost Fingers are a jazz group from Québec, Canada, active since 2008. They are based in Québec City and work as an acoustic trio playing gypsy jazz and swing, with material drawn from the gipsy jazz repertoire associated with Django Reinhardt alongside arrangements of 1980s hits. Their repertoire places jazz manouche at the centre of the group’s sound.
History and activity
Since forming, the group builds a short but active live history that includes opening for French guitarist Patrick Saussois, appearing at two international music festivals, and performing live on several radio stations. They also appear at the Montreal Jazz Festival.
Line-up and recordings
On the album Wonders of the World, the group features Byron Mikaloff and Alex Morissette as returning members, with François Rioux on jazz guitar and Valérie Amyot on vocals. The group’s recorded work reflects its mix of acoustic jazz playing, Manouche influence, and reinterpretations of well-known pop songs.
