The Life
The Life is a project by New York singer and producer Curtis Everett Pawley. It is also the name of a separate band that is active in the Seattle music scene in the pre-Nirvana period.
New York project
As a project, The Life is associated with Curtis Everett Pawley, who is based in New York City and works as a singer and producer.
Seattle band
The Seattle version of The Life operates in the pre-Nirvana years and wins the Northwest Area Music Association’s award for Best New Northwest Band in 1987. Its line-up consists of Jimm McIver on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony Bortko on guitar, Casey Allen on bass and backing vocals, and Eric Lichter on drums and percussion.
The band releases its debut album, Alone, on Green Monkey Records in 1987. It splits up while recording a second album. Material from both albums later appears together as a double-CD collection on Green Monkey in 2012.
