The KVB

The KVB are a London-based group active since 2010, led by Nicholas Wood and associated with dark wave, new wave, post-punk and shoegaze. Their sound combines reverb-heavy shoegaze with minimalist electronic production, giving their music a sparse and atmospheric quality.

Formation and early releases

The group forms in 2010 and begins with a run of limited cassette and vinyl releases. Their first full-length album, Always Then, arrives in 2012. The following year they issue two more albums, Immaterial Visions and Minus One. Minus One is a formal release of material that first appears as digital downloads and very limited cassettes.

Recording and collaborations

In 2014, the KVB record in Berlin at Anton Newcombe’s studio for the Out of Body EP, which is released later that year on Newcombe’s A Records label. This session is the first time the group records outside its own home studio and the first time it works with drummer Joe Dilworth, who is best known for his work with Stereolab.

Later material

The group continues with a productive period in 2014, and material from that year with a more experimental edge is collected on Mirror Being, which Invada releases in June of the following year.
