The Kush

The Kush are a blues-based rock and roll band from the UK. They play a style they describe as filthy blues-based rock and roll, drawing on classic rhythm and blues, hard rock, early grunge and electronic influences.

Background and activity

The band spends two years working in a rehearsal space in a warehouse unit called The Room, which has a reputation as a venue in their hometown and appears in the inner sleeve images for the band. They have a website and a Myspace page for tracks, videos and photos, and a national tour is organised for the band.

Live appearances and recording

The Kush play sets at Wireless Festival and The Great Escape, and they are writing and recording material for their first full EP.

Influences

Their stated influences include Stax and Decca records, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, early grunge, Davy Graham, B.B. King, Lead Belly, Jimi Hendrix, the Prodigy, Unkle and elements of the Manchester music scene.
