The Knux

The Knux are an alternative rap duo from New Orleans, Louisiana, active since 2003. The group consists of brothers Krispy and Alvin Lindsay, who perform as rappers and musicians. Their work sits within hip-hop, rap, garage-hop and underground rap.

Background

The brothers are born in New Orleans and are displaced by Hurricane Katrina. They are musically trained and begin drawing wider attention in late 2007, when they open for Common on the Finding Forever tour. Their early live shows feature a full band, the Symetrics, alongside DJ Cobra.

Style and early reception

The Knux develop a distinctive stage image, appearing in throwback Adidas zip-ups and large gold chains rather than standard contemporary rap clothing. Their live performances often puzzle audiences, and some crowds boo them. The group later attracts attention from tastemakers and bloggers after signing to Interscope Records.

Recording and releases

The Knux have an association with Paul Rosenberg, the manager of Eminem. Before issuing commercial material, their MySpace page draws heavy traffic. Their first official Interscope release is the song “Cappuccino”, which first appears in an episode of the fourth season of Entourage and is later given a video. Their debut album, Remind Me in 3 Days, is released in 2008.
