The Juice

The Juice is a name used by more than one act. One version is a London hard rock band, also known as Jay Serrao and The Juice. Another is a Dutch group from Nijmegen.

London hard rock band

The London-based The Juice play bluesy, funky, hard rock and describe their own style as “mature hard rock”. Their sound is linked to Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age. The group begins gigging in London’s live circuit and later builds a following around its live shows.

The band’s independently funded album BLOOD FOR WATER is released digitally worldwide in April 2007. Tracks highlighted from the record include “Stolen Generation”, “Shooting Stars” and “Catch My Drift?”. The band receives strong audience response and critical comments around its live performances and recording work. After a successful mini-tour of India and a summer acoustic US tour, the group works with Pink Floyd engineer Andy Jackson to record and master material titled Blow and Rouge, which appears on its Myspace page.

The line-up is fronted by Jay Serrao. The band later goes on hiatus, and Serrao begins an online collaborative solo project called Shmolts.

Dutch band

The Nijmegen-based The Juice combine rock with uptempo grooves and synth sounds, while also using electronic and chaotic samples. Their songs are described as compact, powerful and danceable. The band develops from earlier groups in which funk and disco are more prominent, including Mr. Fleece and Coolshrank, and continues to keep those influences in its music.

The Dutch group releases its first five-track EP through Brave Burger Records on 1 March 2013.
