The Jaywalkers
The Jaywalkers are a group with a Greek c86-era background, formed by Paschalis Plissis and Giorgos Mouchtarides. The pair both come from a previous punk band called Migraine. The act is associated with the 1980s indie pop and jangle pop scene, and it is also tagged with c86.
Recording history
The Jaywalkers issue only one release, a four-track 12-inch “mini LP” on Virgin Hellas in 1987. It does not become a commercial success at the time, but it later gains a strong reputation among collectors. Interest in the record is linked in part to the track (You Can’t Be) Happy All the Time, which appears on Pop Art’s Try A Little Sunshine compilation.
Line-up
For the mini LP, the group includes Paschalis Plissis on guitar, voice, piano and backing vocals; Giorgos Mouchtarides on guitar, voice and backing vocals; Giannis Divolis on violin, harmonium, Greek laouto and vocals; Vassilis Divolis on kettle drums, percussion and goblet drum; and Giorgos Manos on bass, piano and Chinese violin.
Cover artwork
