The Jaguar Club

The Jaguar Club is a Brooklyn, New York group formed shortly before New Year’s Eve 2006. It begins as a trio and, after an initial split in 2010, reforms in 2014 with an expanded and altered lineup. Two members continue working under the name Medals during the period when the band parts ways.

Early releases and debut album

Before the split, the group releases two EPs and a full-length album. In 2008, it spends time in a barn in upstate New York writing and recording its first album at Marcata Recording. That 2009 debut, And We Wake Up Slowly, presents the band moving away from the New Wave-influenced sound associated with its earlier work while keeping a sense of energy and intensity. The album contains 13 tracks and includes a wider range of dynamics, sounds and ideas, with heavier and softer material than the band had previously recorded.

Reunion and later work

The Jaguar Club reunites during the summer of 2014 with a changed lineup and begins playing shows in New York again. A new EP, Close, follows in 2015.
