The Irish Brigade
The Irish Brigade are an Irish rebel band from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Active since 1981, the group is centred on Gerry O'Glacain.
Style and repertoire
Their music is rooted in celtic rock, folk rock, Irish folk and rock, and they are known as an overtly political ballad group. Alongside political material, they also perform non-political songs. Their writing and performance style ranges from humorous to more poignant takes on life and politics in Ireland.
Career and associations
The band plays regularly across Ireland, both north and south, and has a following in the Celtic music scene in Glasgow. They are described as having a similar outlook to Shebeen and Seanchai. The group has toured for over thirty years.
