The Home Team

The Home Team is a Canadian early 2000s rock and emo group from Manitoba. It is a four-piece band made up of Brian Butcher on vocals, John Baran on guitar, Ryne Olson on bass and Daniel Matson on drums. Its sound sits across pop punk, pop rock, emo, post-hardcore and alternative.

Early releases and live activity

The band releases the EP Black Sheep in early 2014 and tours regularly, building a reputation for an energetic live performance. Its work develops a following through a mix of touring and melodic, catchy material.

Recordings with Revival Recordings

In early 2018, The Home Team signs to Revival Recordings and issues its first label single, “Fashion Forward.” The band also releases “Ageless,” “She’s Quiet” and “Since We All Fell Apart” through this period. Its first full-length album, Better Off, follows in July 2018.

Slow Bloom and later material

In 2020, The Home Team records its next album with Skyler Acord and Seb Barlow. That release, Slow Bloom, arrives on digital platforms, and a deluxe edition follows in 2022 with the additional tracks “FOMO (Bored of You)” and “Grievance Pay.”
