The High
The High are an English rock group from Manchester, United Kingdom. They form in 1989 and are active from then to the present. The group is founded by John Matthews and guitarist Andy Couzens. Couzens is a former member of The Stone Roses and plays guitar on the tracks “So Young” and “Tell Me”.
Releases
The High release their debut album, Somewhere Soon, on London Records in 1990. In the same year they issue their first three singles, “Box Set Go”, “Take Your Time” and “Up & Down”. “Up & Down” is written by Couzens while he is still in The Stone Roses. Their second album, Hype, appears in 1992, followed by a Best of album in 1997.
Style
The group are associated with alternative rock and madchester, and are also linked with baggy, jangle pop, shoegaze and 1990s indie rock.
