The Hell Yeahs

The Hell Yeahs is a United States rock band name used by more than one group. One version is a husband-and-wife project from St. Paul, made up of Phil Redmon and Heather Redmon, who record and release music under this name at songfight.org from 2004. Another is a Portland, Oregon four-piece formed in 2006. That band plays rock with a sound described as drawing on the energy of early Iggy Pop and the carelessness of the early CBGB’s scene, with gritty guitars, pounding rhythms and a strong focus on melody and hooks.

The Portland group is described as sounding New York in style despite its Oregon origin, and as combining harsh, wild rock with punchy songwriting. The name is also sometimes used as a mistag for Hellyeah, the group featuring Vinnie Paul.
