The Grey are a Canadian band from Ottawa, active since 2003. The group works in indie rock, post-hardcore and post-rock, and is also described as a melodic and experimental post-rock quartet. It is signed to Lovitt Records.

Line-up and background

The band’s current line-up includes Matt Deline on guitar and vocals, Hayden Menzies on percussion, Chuck Saso on guitar and backing vocals, and Luke Rashotte on bass and vocals. The group includes musicians who have also played in Shotmaker, Three Penny Opera and Buried Inside. Steve Martin of Buried Alive is listed as a former member.

Style and influences

The Grey’s sound draws on a wide range of influences, including Fugazi, the Jesus Lizard, Seaweed, Drive Like Jehu, Juno, Tom Petty, the MC5, Neil Young and Nick Cave.
