The Gories

The Gories are a Detroit garage punk trio formed in 1986. The group has no bass guitar and is made up of Mick Collins on vocals and guitar, Dan Kroha on vocals and guitar, and Peggy O'Neill on drums. Their sound sits within garage rock, garage punk, punk blues and blues rock.

History

The band forms in Detroit, United States, and is active from 1986 to the present. It disbands in 1992, then later reforms and continues playing. Mick Collins later becomes known through The Dirtbombs and also forms Blacktop. Dan Kroha later plays in the now defunct Demolition Doll Rods.

Recordings and influence

The Gories release three LPs and several 7-inch singles. Their blues-influenced approach becomes an important reference point for later garage rock acts, including The White Stripes.
