The Getaway is a Canadian pop punk and punk rock band formed by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Andrew Jordan and bassist Ryan Kienle, both of whom previously played in the Poughkeepsie punk rock band Fizzlewink. The group is associated with melodic punk and pop punk.

The band signs to Epitaph Records after the label’s owner, Brett Gurewitz, hears the song “Ex Marks The Spot” through Punknews.org. Because of legal issues involving another Canadian band using the same name, The Getaway later changes its name to Matchbook Romance, the name it is known by now.
