The Foamers

The Foamers are a punk and ska-punk group from the United Kingdom, formed in Epsom, Surrey in 1996. The line-up begins with Chris, Carlos and Kerem, with Tom joining soon afterwards. Kerem Shefik is listed as a member.

Early years and debut release

After rehearsing and writing together, the band records early tracks in a local studio that has been converted from a public toilet. A demo reaches Tent City Records in New York, which invites the group to record a debut full-length album. In June 1999 the band travels to the United States to make 6 Pints None the Wiser, which is released in 2000. The album combines 4/4 punk, ska and oi, and draws on the influence of bands such as Snuff and Choking Victim.

Touring and label activity

The Foamers tour widely after the debut album, including a summer 2001 run with Leftover Crack, with whom they become friends and whose music is a major influence on the band. They later record three tracks for their own label, Plopstars Recordings. The set includes the title track, “Football”, an anti-hooligan song, along with two live tracks from 6 Pints..., recorded while touring with Capdown.

Household Name and second album

After supporting F-Minus at the Underworld in Camden, the band joins the Household Name roster. Plans are made for the label to release their second album, and the group continues touring, including another Leftover Crack tour in summer 2002 and a December 2002 run with Big D and the Kids Table and Dan Potthast of MU330. During 2003 the band tours, writes new material and goes through several line-up changes. Later that year they record their self-titled second album at John Hannon’s No Recording Studios, following a line of punk and ska acts that have used the studio.

Break-up

The Foamers split up in September 2004.
