The Field

The Field is the Swedish electronic musician Axel Willner from Stockholm. He works in ambient techno, electronic and minimal techno, and releases music on Kompakt. Since 2005, he has issued six full-length albums, along with a number of EPs, 12-inches and remixes for other artists.

Willner’s music combines atmospheric ambience with driving techno rhythms and often uses microsamples from pop recordings. Artists sampled or referenced in this way include The Four Tops, Lionel Richie and Kate Bush. The Field is also associated with Cologne Tape.
