The Eden House

The Eden House is a UK gothic rock collaborative project led by Stephen Carey, formerly of This Burning Effigy and Adoration, and Tony Pettitt, formerly of Fields of the Nephilim, Rubicon and NFD. The project uses a rotating line-up of guest musicians and vocalists rather than a fixed band format.

Releases

The debut album, Smoke & Mirrors, is released by Jungle Records and features vocals from Monica Richards, Evi Vine, Amandine Ferrari and Julianne Regan. Other contributors include violinist Bob Loveday, who has worked with Penguin Café Orchestra and Van Morrison and has also been a member of Bob Geldof’s band; former Fields of the Nephilim members Peter Yates, Nod Wright and Paul Wright; and drummers Simon Rippin, formerly of The Nefilim and NFD, and Bob Irwin, who has also worked with Johnny Cash and Van Morrison.

The second release, The Looking Glass, is a set of five cover versions with guest vocals by Tallulah Rendall. Andy Jackson, who has worked as a sound engineer with Pink Floyd and has been involved with Fields of the Nephilim, also joins the project on guitar. A limited edition two-disc version includes a DVD of a live performance alongside the CD.

The EP Timeflows follows in 2012 and features guest musicians including Simon Hinkler, Bob Loveday and Simon Rippin, as well as vocalists Valenteen, Amandine Ferrari and Meghan-Noel Pettitt.

Half Life, released by Jungle Records in 2013, introduces vocalists Laura Bennett and Jordan Reyne to the live line-up and songwriting process, alongside contributions from Lee Douglas, Meghan-Noel Pettitt, Queenie Moy and Phoenix J. Guest guitarists on the album include Simon Hinkler and Phil Manzanera.

The third studio album, Songs for the Broken Ones, also on Jungle Records, follows in 2017. The song To Believe In Something is used during the closing credits of the 2016 film Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions.

Live work

The Eden House tours in 2009 and 2010 with Ferrari, Richards and Vine sharing vocal duties. Festival appearances include a headline performance at Whitby Gothic Weekend and an appearance at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Germany. To support Songs for the Broken Ones, the project plays a short UK tour with performances in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds and London, featuring Monica Richards, Louise Patricia Crane and Meghan-Noel Pettitt, with additional guest appearances from The Society, Skeletal Family and Siberia.
