The Drone Rebels

The Drone Rebels are a five-piece band from South East England. They describe their music as “Party Punk Funk”, a style they arrive at by combining punk, funk, noise and a pub-soaked, chaotic energy. The current line-up is Mikey on vocals, Drew and Simon on guitars, Mike on bass and Luca on drums. The group has been active for four years and plays live across the country.

Music and themes

The band’s songs mix heavy distortion with catchy rhythms and often balance serious ideas with a playful delivery. Tracks including Resister, Burn Parliament and You Don’t Know address issues such as dishonest Western governments, apathy and dissatisfaction with popular culture. Other songs, including Dirty Little Thing, Between the Lines and ’Ave a-bit-a Bosh, move into subjects such as curb crawling, aliens and the drug-like effect of music.

Live performance

On stage, The Drone Rebels present their music with sweat, noise, chaos and humour. Their performances are self-effacing and designed to be both entertaining and physically driving, with a strong emphasis on audience movement and participation.
