The Draytones
The Draytones are a London-based Anglo-Argentine garage rock and psychedelic rock group that forms in 2006 and remains active until 2015. The band is a four-piece, with Andy Pickering listed among the members. Their sound also sits within classic pop and rock, as well as indie rock and garage rock.
Career
The Draytones begin with early recordings made with producer Stan Kybert, known for work with Oasis, The Verve and Bjork. Those recordings draw attention from a wide range of outlets, including Zane Lowe on Radio 1, Bob Harris on Radio 2, MTV2, BBC 6 Music, and magazines such as NME and Mojo, which feature the band on a covermount CD. The group also attract interest from Paul Weller, who invites them to tour with him across the UK.
The band’s live activity includes dates with The Noisettes, Nick Cave, The Dead 60's, The Hoosiers and The View, alongside appearances at Glastonbury and many other festivals in the UK, Europe, South America and Japan. Their independent releases receive national radio play, including coverage and live sessions on Radio 2 with Radcliffe and Maconie, and on BBC 6 Music with Tom Robinson and Mark Riley.
International work
The Draytones also gain attention in Latin America through radio and MTV coverage, which leads to a five-week tour of Argentina. That tour includes the band’s “Friendship Tour” of the Falkland Islands, making them the first Anglo-Argentine band to perform there.
Later recording
In 2010, the group return to Sawmills Studios to work again with Stan Kybert, recording, mixing and mastering a new record over seven days.
