The Downtown Struts
The Downtown Struts are a punk rock group from Chicago, United States, active since 2008. They form with two members from Northern California and two from the Midwest, and they build songs from punk and Americana influences.
Sound and influences
Their music is described as honest, melodic and passionate, but also driven and aggressive. Their songwriting shows the influence of The Clash, Bruce Springsteen and The Replacements, and their live performances are noted for their power.
Debut album
The band’s debut full-length album, Victoria!, is set against the backdrop of Chicago and its contrasts of success and struggle. It is recorded with Matt Allison at Atlas Studios in Chicago and contains 10 tracks. The album is described as ambitious while still familiar in feel, with a consistent sense of energy and urgency.
Touring
After a full US tour supporting The Business, the group continues touring, including appearances at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool and the Endless Summer Festival in Germany.
