The Dirty Beggars

The Dirty Beggars are a group from the United Kingdom, based in Central Scotland, who play a blend of bluegrass, folk, americana, Scottish and newgrass styles. Their line-up includes guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and double bass, and their music combines traditional Celtic and American bluegrass influences.

Career

The band tours in the UK and abroad and builds a reputation on a hard-edged bluegrass sound. In 2012, they appear on the MTV Top 20 Brand New Unsigned list. They tour the United States in 2014, where they play to sold-out crowds and support Trampled by Turtles, and they also film live on the streets of Nashville for Country Music Television.

Recordings and live work

The Dirty Beggars release their debut album, Bite The Bullet, which contains 10 original tracks and receives strong critical attention. In November 2013, they release the EP Time to Reminisce, which features three new tracks, at a sold-out show at Glasgow’s Classic Grand. They also play several sets at Celtic Connections 2014 and share a stage with Trampled by Turtles at the O2 ABC.

Collaborations and shared bills

The band performs with a range of acts including The Staves, Adam Holmes, Rura, King Eider, Treetop Flyers, Blue Rose Code and Julie Fowlis.
