The Defiled

The Defiled are a London, United Kingdom metal band that forms in 2008 and continues to be active. They are a five-piece group associated with groove metal, industrial metal, metalcore and thrash metal, and their sound mixes groove-led hardcore metal with electronic elements.

Career and live reputation

The band builds an early following through support slots with acts including Murderdolls, The 69 Eyes and Dry Kill Logic. These appearances lead to a performance at Bloodstock Open Air in 2008, and they later open the 2010 Jagermeister Music Tour alongside Exit Ten and Sylosis. Their live shows earn a reputation for intensity and chaos, with the band, their instruments and the crowd often caught up in the performance.

Releases and recognition

After a run of demos circulating among fans, The Defiled release their first EP in 2009. Their album Grave Times is issued for free with Metal Hammer, and a deluxe edition follows with a bonus disc that includes the 1888 ReWorks EP and two music videos. The band also receives a nomination for Best New British Band at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards.

Festival appearances

The Defiled go on to headline the Jagermeister stage at Sonisphere and the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air in 2011.
