The Deacons

The Deacons are a group from Saint Paul, Minnesota, associated with 1960s garage rock. They are one of several acts to use the Deacons name.

The group records the albums Maiden America and Jump Tonight!. These are made by a Deacons lineup formed by John O'Connor, Charles Mitchell, Geoff Holdridge, and Chris Polk. The band writes much of its own material and also reworks songs by other artists with original arrangements.

The Deacons’ later lineup includes Georgia Slim Wilson on vocals, keyboards and piano; John Sterling on vocals and guitar; Geoff Holdridge on vocals and electric viola; Charles Mitchell on drums and vocals; and John O'Connor on vocals and bass guitar. The band performs blues, rock and some jazz.
