The Dø

The Dø is a French duo from Paris consisting of Dan Levy and Olivia Merilahti. The group is active from 2005 to 2021 and is associated with folk rock, indie pop and indie rock.

Levy and Merilahti come from Paris, France and Helsinki, Finland respectively. The band name is said to come from the first note in the C major scale.

The Dø’s music covers a wide range of styles, with references to avant-garde noise, hip-hop and classical music, and it is also described as fitting within freak folk. Their debut album is A Mouthful, which appears in Europe in 2008 and in the US in 2010 through Six Degrees. In 2011, the band releases Both Ways Open Jaws on the same label.
