The Curst Sons

The Curst Sons are a Brighton-based trio active since 1998. They play American-rooted traditional music, combining blues, gospel and bluegrass with a stomping rhythm and dry humour. The group releases music on its own Curst Mountain label and has issued four CDs on that label.

Career and recordings

The band plays extensively in pubs, clubs and festivals, and records live sessions for Mark Lamarr on BBC Radio 2. It has also been named Time Out critics’ choice twice. The Curst Sons receive recognition for a sound that stays close to American folk traditions while using an unusual approach that sets it apart from other roots acts.

Awards and recognition

The Curst Sons are nominated for Best Americana Act at the British Country Music Awards in 2010 and for Best Alt Country Album at the Independent Music Awards in 2011.
