The Cruel Intentions
The Cruel Intentions are a hard rock band formed in 2015, based in Sweden and Norway. The group brings together former Vains Of Jenna frontman Lizzy DeVine, Swedish bassist Mats Wernerson, Norwegian drummer Eiliv Sagrusten and Norwegian lead guitarist Kristian Nygaard Solhaug. The band is active from 2015 to the present.
Formation and line-up
Lizzy DeVine forms the group after years away from the spotlight, following his departure from Vains Of Jenna in 2010. The original line-up includes DeVine, Wernerson, Sagrusten and Solhaug. DeVine is the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist.
Recording and releases
The Cruel Intentions release their first single, Borderline Crazy, with a video to accompany it. The track is mixed at LaneyLand Studios by Chris Laney, who also contributes backing vocals and percussion. The band later records a third album, All Hail Hypocrisy, for release through Indie Recordings.
Lizzy DeVine and earlier work
Before The Cruel Intentions, DeVine fronts Vains Of Jenna, which signs as the first band on Bam Margera’s Filthy Note record label. His departure from that group in 2010 leads into his work with The Cruel Intentions.
Style
The Cruel Intentions are identified with hard rock and sleaze rock, with a Scandinavian glam-rock edge reflected in their image and sound.
