The Chapman Family

The Chapman Family are a UK alternative rock band from Stockton-on-Tees, Teesside, formed in 2006 and active until 2013. The group includes Kingsley Chapman.

Overview

The band consists of Kingsley, Pop, Owen, Kevin and Scott. They play a noisy form of indie rock marked by feedback, intensity and a political edge. Their material draws on subjects such as truth, politicians, royalty, war, cruelty, injustice, poverty, famine and humanity.

Career

The Chapman Family release their debut album in 2011 under the title Burn Your Town. Before that, they attract attention in 2009 for chaotic and at times disturbing live shows, with coverage from NME and Radio 1. They are later overlooked while recording their album, then receive renewed attention around the album’s release, before copies are destroyed in a warehouse fire during the 2011 riots. The band formally splits in 2013, after seven years together.
