The Cavern Beatles

The Cavern Beatles are a Beatles tribute band from Liverpool, active since 1989. They are licensed and endorsed by the Cavern Club in Mathew Street, Liverpool, and present themselves as ambassadors of the venue often described as the most famous club in the world.

Line-up and approach

The group includes Adam Hastings and Christopher O'Neill. Its members are instrumentalists and singers who focus on recreating the character and performance style of The Beatles in detail. The act changes cast over time and, in 2011, begins a new phase with a new cast and approach.

Performance style

The Cavern Beatles perform a live two-hour show without backing tracks. Their repertoire draws on Beatles hits and album tracks, and the show traces the group’s development from the Cavern Club era through to the rooftop concert in Savile Row, London, in 1969. The performance is built around extensive study and rehearsal, with an emphasis on close attention to the original sound and stage presentation.

Instruments and presentation

The band uses genuine 1960s instruments and, where possible, equipment similar to that used by The Beatles. Their staging aims for a precise recreation of the period details associated with the original group, from early club performances to later studio-era material.
