The Canyon Observer
The Canyon Observer are a five-member sludge metal band from Slovenia. Their music combines post-metal, post-rock and noise elements, with a focus on heavy, primal aggression and atmospheric sound textures.
Releases
The band releases its first EP, Chapter I: The Current of Her Ocean Brings Me to My Knees, in October 2011. A year later, it follows with Chapter II: These Binds Will Set You Free. The group also records a cover of Nirvana’s “Territorial Pissings” for the 20th anniversary of Nevermind.
Live activity
The Canyon Observer tour regularly and play in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Bulgaria. They share stages with Russian Circles, Rosetta, God Is An Astronaut and Ahab.
Reception
The band’s recorded work draws attention for its blend of style and substance and for its production and arrangement. Chapter I receives strong praise in sludge metal circles, and Chapter II is noted for its powerful playing and production.
