The Bryan Ferry Orchestra
The Bryan Ferry Orchestra is a jazz ensemble founded and led by Bryan Ferry. It performs only Ferry’s own material, reworked in a 1920s jazz style. Ferry creates the group to emphasise the melodies in his songs and to hear how they work without vocals.
Performance and lineup
Ferry does not play or sing with the orchestra. The project functions as an instrumental ensemble built around his compositions rather than a conventional live band with him as an onstage performer.
Recording and releases
The orchestra releases The Jazz Age on BMG Rights Management. The album appears on 10-inch vinyl, 12-inch vinyl, CD and as a digital download. It is co-produced by Ferry and Rhett Davies, with arrangements by Colin Good.
Artwork
The album artwork uses illustrations by the French poster artist Paul Colin, who lives from 1892 to 1985.
