The Bones

The Bones are a Swedish punk and rock band from Stockholm, active since 1993. The line-up includes Dollar Ace, Beef Bonanza, Spooky Fred, Marcus Petersson and Andi Nero.

Background

The band begins under that name in the mid-1990s and becomes closely associated with a hard-edged punk rock sound. It plays extensively across Europe, with hundreds of live performances over the years and festival appearances as part of its touring history.

Recordings and label work

The group first releases The Horrorway E.P. on its own label in the autumn of 1997. The record sells out within a few months and leads to a second mini-album, Six feet down and two fingers up. During the sessions for that release, the band comes to the attention of the German label People Like You Records, a sublabel of Century Media Records, and signs with it in 1999. The band also signs with the German booking agency MAD.

This period leads to the first full-length album, Screwed, blued and tattooed, followed by Bigger than Jesus in 2002, also recorded at the PAMA studio with support from People Like You. The second album receives strong reviews in Europe and also draws positive attention in the United States.

Live work and touring

The Bones build much of their reputation through live performance. They tour widely across Europe, headline festivals, and tour arenas with Die Toten Hosen. They also support D.A.D. and U.S. Bombs on a European tour, and share stages with Motörhead, Roger Miret & The Disasters, 999, Angelic Upstarts and Cockney Rejects.

Style

The band is associated with punk rock, punk, rock and roll, and punk ’n’ roll.
